As the summer breeze warms and the greenery deepens, we welcome the second solar term of summer – Xiaoman (Grain Buds). The ancient Chinese text 《Collection of Seventy-Two Pentads of the Lunar Calendar》states, "In the middle of the fourth month, Xiaoman signifies that things have reached a point of slight fullness." At this time, wheat grains in the north are plump and ripe, hinting at a bountiful harvest; in the south, rainfall increases, rivers swell slightly, and a gentle summer scene unfolds. Xiaoman is the rhythm of nature, and even more so, the wisdom etched into the time by the Chinese people – full but not overflowing, leaving room for growth, and moving steadily towards a bright future.
